Big River Telephone is having a video contest to promote their new wireless broadband internet service. I decided to enter because any competitor of Charter is a friend of mine; plus, I figure I have a fair chance at winning. So, what I need YOU to do is click on the link above, watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page, and VOTE! The more votes, the better chance I have at winning! And yes, I know the video is painfully cheesy, but sometimes that’s what it takes to win.

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 1 Corinthians 9:24

Stay tuned, because within the next few days, I’ll follow up with the finished product.

Just a few hints:
It’s gonna be BIG. REAL BIG. IT’S GOING TO BE BIG! Big is the operative term in this discussion.
It’s something random.
It’s not the style of video that is usually my forte. I’m mostly doing it just to see if I can.
It will require your assistance and support. Yes, all two of you who read this blog.

Believe it or not, those clues give away most of the video. Until next time on the ol’blog, you can check out other videos that I’ve made on Youtube at one of two places: here (random ones) and here (serious ones, most but not all of which were made by me).

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

Proverbs 17:22

I’ve been trying to pick a 2012 presidential candidate ’cause I gotta do my part and vote for someone. There’s nobody that stands out to me, so rather than writing in “Chuck Norris” on the ballot, I’m going to go about this scientifically.

Newt Gingrich

Cadillac Escalade
4×4 Suburban (previous)
This tells me he likes to have the appearance of being secure and imposing. Large and in charge. Unfortunately, it makes him just like everyone else who drives a big luxury barge around. Too much following, not enough leading.
(sources: AOL Autos, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/commandingheights/shared/minitext/int_newtgingrich.html)

President Barack Obama

Ford Escape Hybrid
Yechh… jumping on the hybrid bandwagon. Sure, the “experts” like these things, and they sound efficient, but what will the environmental toll be when there’s millions of them in junkyards with unrepairable toxic batteries and obsolete electronics? If you want something that gets 40mpg, don’t buy an SUV! Definitely a political statement, not an automobile that makes sense.
(source; AOL Autos)

Ron Paul

1996 Buick LeSabre
Nash Rambler (first car)
Hmm, this choice seems old fashioned and comforting, kinda like when Mister Rogers would put on that red cardigan sweater every week. It’s eccentric, but not eccentric enough to bring alarm. I was hoping he’d drive a Saab, just to match his aura. He used to have a Nash Rambler; close enough I suppose.
(source: AOL Autos)

Mitt Romney

2005 Ford Mustang GT convertible
1962 Rambler American
considering purchase of a ’50s Corvette
Ahh, a CAR GUY! Very classic and American, he is. Aggressive, powerful, yet a bit conservative and even nostalgic. If I could get past his Mormon-ness, I’d be cool with this.
(source: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2011/12/car-guy-mitt-romney-loves-his-ford—-and-a-rambler/1)

Rick Santorum

nobody knows… anybody have leads on what he drives? I’m gonna take a guess and say a late-model Taurus with all the options. I’m probably hilariously wrong. It’s gotta be something traditional, conservative, and American.

Wow, this is a hard choice. Knee-jerk reaction is Romney, but being a car guy does not necessarily a good leader make. Wish I knew what Santorum drives. Really wish that Chuck Norris was running; Dodge Ram would fit the bill. Really, really wish that there was just an obvious candidate who will serve God, allowing Him to guide his decisions and influence his politics.

If anyone has comments, I’d love to hear them. In the meantime, I’ll be praying the following verse:

The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Proverbs 21:1 KJV

This is my first blog. I don’t know what my emphasis will be yet, but here are general categories that I may cover:

Electronics (reviews, repair guides, ponderings)

Music (sounds I like, instruments I like, and how I play them)

Home improvement (how-tos, desperate questions, successes)

Image capturing (cameras, lenses, software, theory)

Automobiles (projects, reviews, histories, and just stories)

What I believe about my God, my world, and everything besides politics (heck, I’ll even include politics)

I shall leave no stone unturned. If these topics interest you, stay tuned. Hopefully I’ll share some things of interest, and I’ll always conclude with a bit of God’s Word, which to me…
